#Question: In youropinionwhat would you say the difference is between a ‘Christian Artist‘ and a ‘Gospel Artist‘ and how important do you think it is to clearly identify one from the other? #HaveYourSay

In my opinion, A Gospel artist is 100% Jesus centered on all facets. Not just inspirational and uplifting, but talking about ALL topics what Jesus discussed and what the Gospel presents. A Christian artist has the room not not be as hard hitting. They talk about Jesus, but it can seem a lil less meaty compared to a Gospel artist. Now this is my opinion, as todays music in both realms…just isn’t what it used to be, but I believe this is what I seems like to me.
I liked the tweet “the world finds it easier to say gospel then to say Christ… Christ is gospel…”
To be honest is a shame that people see Christian or Gospel (bbm confused face) music, as if they’re are separate. Its like having different denominations.. e.g “if you’re pentecostal you’re this… if you’re evangelical you’re this… if you’re baptist you’re this.” …. Do we all living for a different God??? *headache* … Just another thing that causes division ….#sigh
In essence they are one in the same, but through tradition and trends they are seen as different.
The person who is both Christian and an artist tends to be more free to reflect their faith through their art in ways that obligate them to Christ, whereas the person who is both a christian and artist who identifies themselves with being a gospel artist obligates themselves to the ‘rules’ of the gospel music genre they are under.
The rules of the gospel music genre haven’t actually been officially confirmed by God in ways that make them clear to identify so most artists tend to simplify them to being the rule of ‘spreading the gospel’. Confusion between the ‘Gospel music genre’ and the Biblical ‘Gospel message’ then generally causes artists to become less artistic in expression and content and become more dogmatic and one dimensional.
I’m a christian and filmmaker. My art is set upon the canvas of film and tv, though i love Christ and proclaim the gospel, God has never told me to call myself a ‘Gospel Filmmaker’ or ‘Gospel Artist’. My heart and craft though will always support, promote and work in partnership with those who do. More than what they call themselves they are my family.
The ‘Christian’ and ‘Gospel’ artists must work together in unity and harmony despite what they choose to call themselves!
Gospel artists are far more bold in their gospel proclamation as the genre is totally geared to giving ‘in-yer-face’ truth! The problem with a lot of acoustic-based Christian stuff is it’s far too contemplative, reflective & ‘nice’. Gospel is bold!
“gospel” artists dedicate their craft to relaying the gospel OR to praising God outright. While “christian” artists can do the same @ times, but usually they write personally in pursuit of expression. I LOVE both.
Ok for me I look at the meaning of the words as thats what you doing when including it with the artist label.
Gospel = As MY understanding Gospel means “good news” or “good tidings” in the Hebrew the word Gospel is said to mean BESORAH which means “message” or “report” both are attributed to do with spreading the Word of our Lord. Spreading the “Good news” or spreading the “message” and if you are calling yourself Gospel artist I believe that is what the MOTIVE of your music should be.
Christian = As MY understanding of it is the term was first used in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians Acts 26:28. MY understanding of it is that it means “follower of the Anointed One” meaning Christ.
Already you can see from the MEANING of the words it portrays different MOTIVES, Christian artist follows Christ in there music so I expect their professional conduct & musical creativity to be “Christ like” no profanity etc.
But a Gospel artist I expect to be communicating the Bible using music.
The reason I say MY understanding is because one my opinion on the subject is not relevant and two concrete fact comes from the Word. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:15 STUDY TO SHEW THYSELF APPROVED if you are unsure go research all Gospel or Christian artist should take time to carefully examine the Word before saying they are one or the other.
Talking generally without getting too technical- I believe a Gospel Artist is a person who has dedicated their craft to “Spreading the Good news of Jesus Christ”
While a Christian artist, doesn’t necessarily have to boldly state their believes in Christ or “Preach” through their music. However, you can see a clear difference in their music (as in no swearing or using of foul language or connatations)
You will know which type of artist you are once you have clearly discovered the ‘reason your doing music’
I think that the difference is that gospel artists are more based on the gospel of Jesus Christ but Christian artists- even though they are also centred on Jesus- generalise on different parts of christianity
one reps da church while the other will rep the gospel!!

A christian who is an artist hopefully talks bout life generally wit a biblical worldview,a gospel artist preaches it outright
gospel artist: a person who promotes the gospel. A christian artist: promotes christlikeness, can do the gospel
da world finds it easier 2say gospel then 2say Christ. Personally!! Christ is gospel.. So 2me no difference…
A GospelArtist doesn’t sugarcoat anything and keeps it 100, a ChristianArtist hasthe room 2not b as hard hittin with the truth
I personally don’t see a difference. Between a Gospel artist and a Christian Artist
“gospel” artists dedicate their craft to relaying the gospel OR to praising God outright. While “christian” artists can do the same @ times, but usually they write personally in pursuit of expression. I LOVE both.
Infact. David has a valid point. I Agree with you Dave On Both points. There’s a thin line between the two.
some artists concentrate so much on spreading the gospel, which isn’t bad but they sometimes forget to live it (application)

In conclusion- both represent Christ!

There should be no difference!
